Armaan Malik sang the song "Bum Bum Bole" for the movie "Taare Zameen Par" in 2007 when he was only 10 years old. Since then, his career has evolved to include being a playback singer, independent singer-songwriter, collaborations with various artists, and recent performances with Ed Sheeran and Marshmello during their tours in India. During a visit to Bengaluru, Armaan expressed his belief in manifesting his dreams into reality. He spoke about the different phases of his singing career, from child singer to pop singer and then Bollywood. Looking ahead, he has ambitions such as winning a Grammy, performing at Madison Square Garden, and collaborating with artists like Charlie Puth, Zedd, and Justin Bieber. Armaan emphasized the importance of being prepared for all opportunities as an artist.
In reflecting on the music industry, Armaan noted a shift from creating quality music to chasing viral hits. He stressed that a good song transcends any formula and expressed concerns about the potential misuse of technology, such as AI, in manipulating artists' voices. Armaan highlighted the need for legal safeguards to protect artists' rights and preserve the authenticity of music.I find it both amusing and concerning that anyone could potentially use my voice and music texture to create a song without consent. There is a clear need for regulations to be in place to safeguard the rights of artists and ensure that technology does not compromise the authenticity of music creation. I strongly believe that organic elements, such as real instruments and musicians, should always play a crucial role in the music-making process. What is inherently organic should be preserved as such. Collaborations are a wonderful way to unite different worlds, fans, and styles. The key to a successful collaboration lies in the genuine admiration and mutual enthusiasm shared between the artists involved. I have a few favorite artists with whom I aspire to collaborate, driven by my admiration for their music and the desire to create together. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to collaborate with many of the artists I admire, fulfilling long-held dreams such as working with the legendary AR Rahman. Witnessing how aspirations can materialize into reality is truly remarkable. In today's age, an individual with talent and internet access, regardless of their background, has the potential to find an audience and achieve stardom by sharing great content. This is an exciting era for independent music in India. As a playback singer, one must be versatile like a chameleon, adapting their vocal style to suit the on-screen persona of the actor they are singing for. It is fascinating how one can seamlessly adjust their tone and delivery according to the characteristics and charisma of the actor. Singing alongside Ed was a dream come true for me.Armaan Malik reflects on how performing with Ed Sheeran was a humbling experience. Despite Ed's immense fame, he remained remarkably humble and down-to-earth. Their conversations about music, including Indian music, were enjoyable, and Ed expressed a desire to collaborate with more Indian artists. This led to a close friendship between Ed and Armaan, with Armaan now considering Ed as a brother. Armaan recently delivered a sold-out performance at Bharatiya City in Bengaluru.
